Summer Mermaid Facial

Have you noticed the new beauty trend, Coffee Scrubs?
 It's all over IG.
Models and social-lites posing with a coffee covered face and a brown bag like HEY!!!

So I did some research of coffee facials and scrub recipes and found an easy fast and effective one!
How do I know?
 Because I tried it!!

BENEFITS:
Coffee grounds are a mechanical exfoliate, meaning they can be used to scrub away dead skin to reveal the new, healthy skin underneath, whereas chemical exfoliates remove skin cells with enzymes or acidic properties. Exfoliating with coffee grounds improves circulation, leaving you with smooth, glowing skin.
Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne treatment and prevention. Honey is full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down aging and creates a glow. Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.
Brown sugar contains glycol acid, that fights bacteria. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxyl acid, which is important in keeping your skin vivacious and healthy. Brown sugar gives you younger and fresher looking skin by breaking down glue-bonded skin cells which supports cell turnover. It also helps to improve sun damage and offers support to aging skin.

YOU WILL NEED:
1 spoon of coffee
1 spoon of brown sugar
2 spoons of honey

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. It should look like brownie mix.
  2. Apply to your face in sections. scrub in circular motions.
  3. Add to your neck as well. Keep away from your hairline, eyes, and lips. If it you lick it on accident, like I did, its delicious  LOL
  4. Make sure you use all of it! Scrub for 3 minutes then let sit for about 5-10 minutes. If it starts to tickle/itch, scrub the area.
  5. When it's time to take off I would suggest washing in the shower (I made huge mess in the sink!) Exfoliate as you wash off with warm water. Once completely off, splash cold water on your face. Then pat dry with a new clean facial towel.

This is going to sound crazy,
but after I removed the scrub my face felt tingly, like high off caffeine!
It felt different, but good.
I waited about 10 minutes to let the redness from the exfoliation to clear.
After, I added my Hope in a Jar Philosophy Moisturizer.
My skin was extremely soft and notice the blackheads were about to come out on their own.
The next morning my face was still soft and clear as day!
Im in love...
When applied makeup for the first time after the scrub,
I wanted to see the true results so I only moisturized and didn't add any primer.
My makeup was amazing and my skin looked pore less. I'm glowing like my inner mermaid.
I will definitely be doing this on a weekly basis!

5 Daily Beauty Mistakes that Will Change Your Life

Everyday we strive to look our best and feel even better! Of the never-ending list of things we do to beautify ourselves, many of us are making BIG mistakes. As if it wasn't enough right??? Apparently there are some things we are leaving out or just not doing correctly.

1. Moisturizing- not all of you are moisturizing, or aren't religious with it and that's a HUGE no-no. Our skin is thirsty and we need to moisturize everyday, unless you want crows feet in your 30's. First, you need to find a moisturizer for your skin type, preferably with SPF. Even if it's a little expensive, INVEST! Once you find the perfect moisturizer apply everyday in the morning and night. Don't forget your eye cream! Your midlife crisis self will thank you in the future. Always remember to moisturize your neck and hands after your face. you're probably got that WHATTT? face right now but many don't pay mind to these areas but they are actually just as fragile as your face. My husband once told me, "you can always tell a woman's age by her hands", and unfortunately he's right! The top of are hands have skin that is just as thin as our face and with that, just as delicate. Our necks are an entire area we ignore completely. I really don't want to be 50 asking a surgeon to do a little nip and tuck for a gobble-gobble. Do you? So MOISTURIZE like a crazy person.

2. Makeup Removal- Don't you hate when your makeup is so perfect and you have to take it off? omg, me too. I am guilty of falling asleep with it and I know you have to! Well this is a big mistake. Don't do it, like ever again. We also remove our makeup and don't fully remove everything, and think we do. I use the Neutrogena makeup removal wipes. The best deals for these are at CostCo or BJs. I like to wet them a little before I wipe away my masterpiece. These are awesome but I do not recommend the 'grapefruit' ones, they burned my eyes. Even after using these amazing things, I still have some makeup under my eyes so I use Clinique eye makeup removal. Then wash with Cetaphil face cleanser. Use a facial towel, not your bath towel, and change it every 2-3 days. It keeps your face cleaning fresh. Leftover makeup can cause major breakouts and blackheads, so when you come home at 4am from the club and REALLY don't want to wash your face, remember that!

3. Cleaning Makeup Brushes- We aren't cleaning and sterilizing our brushes enough! Many times our face gets clogged with left over bacteria in our makeup brushes! There are many easy ways to clean them. For example, rinse with lukewarm water then clean with clarity shampoo mixture. It's FAST and SAFE and can be the answer to unwanted breakouts.

4. Exfoliating- this one is a biggy! Do you want smooth skin, deep clean, get rid of ingrown hairs, save $$$ on a pedicure? Exfoliate. Seriously, you can get exfoliating products even at the Dollar Tree.  They sell these Microfiber face applicators that are awesome if you can't afford a cleansing system machine. For ingrown hairs, you can buy a loofa and exfoliate areas about 2-4 days after shave or wax. As for pedicure, get a MR.Pumice. Use daily when you shower. The best thing to do after exfoliation is moisturize. Also some liquid body soaps have beads inside to exfoliate while you wash. this is perfect to do before getting a spray tan!

5. Sterilizing your Phone- do you do this, really? Honestly, if I wasn't a mommy to a toddler, it wouldn't cross my mind. But really, our phones are filled with bacteria. It's DISGUSTING. Think about it, do you always break out on that side of the face you use to talk on the phone. What a coincidence! The best and safest way to clean your phone is with a baby wipe. They already contain alcohol so it sterilizes quite well. I guess you can add some hand sanitizer to wipe for an extra clean. This is something you should do at the end of the day, everyday.

These 5 little things we are doing wrong or not at all can change your skin and overall look tremendously. DO IT! After one week I'm positive you will see a difference. Say goodbye to unwanted breakouts on the left cheek because that's the side you answer the phone, or ingrown hairs! You may even save up enough cash from using your Mr.Pumice to get a cleansing machine. We hope these tips will make you feel even more beautiful and as Beyonce would say, "FLAWLESS".

My Baby Quasar Journey

Over the past decade, treating acne and looking younger has been one of the most popular crazes in the beauty industry. From Proactive acne treatment to millions of anti-wrinkle creams, skincare has evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry for beauty.

As the industry continues to grow, companies are always looking for the next big thing and with so many options to choose from, we always want the latest product that has the most effective results in the least amount of time.

Im 22 years old and suffered with acne as a teen and I still breakout sometimes from hormonal changes. I am also a beauty freak! I try to maintain my skin as young as possible. My God! I can remember using sample packets of anti-aging cream before bed when I was only in high school. I care a lot about my skin. I like to believe my mother instilled this quality in me, I mean, she was the one giving me the sample packets anyway! It might sound nutty, but living in america we consume so many processed foods and meats/poultry, that our skin especially is to show for it.

After having my daughter my moderate acne was almost inexistent. Something with my hormones cleared it up. Although I still had some scarring and sunspots(miami girl problems). But on occasions, I would get a minor breakout. I wanted to try something different. Something new. Something effective. So I decided to use Baby Quasar Clear Rayz. Clear Rayz is LED light therapy that not only kills that bacteria but heals the skin. It is a cute little gadget that is double sided with one side red LED light and the other blue LED light. The red light treatment reduces inflamed areas by preventing new acne growth healing the skin. Red light therapy accelerates the growth of healthy new skin cells. Blue light kills bacteria that causes inflammatory acne.

Using the Clear Rayz you split your face into sections and treat each section for about 3 minutes. You rub it against your skin in a circular motion. It is 100% painless and even tickles a bit. You can treat your entire face or just the affect area. Using this product 3 times a week, you can see results in only 14 days. I know I did, immediately. After the second time I used it, my pores were noticeably smaller and had already started to lighten my sunspots. If I had a pimple, I would go two days with blue light therapy and the third day with red light therapy. NOTE: you cannot use red and blue light the same day. I continued using the same makeup(Mac, Physician Formula), face wash(Cetaphil), and moisturizer(Cetaphil) while using this product.

here is a video about how it works.

What Clear Rayz Does

When it came to my anti-aging obsession, Baby Quasar Plus was there. This device is also LED light therapy (RED only). Basically it stimulates collagen and nurtures weakened elastin around the eyes, brows and mouth, and anywhere in between. The amount of light emitted by Baby Quasar PLUS provides the highest amount of power, three to four times stronger than any of our competitors. More power means better penetration. It would take years to catch up to the results you would achieve with Baby Quasar PLUS and there’s no guarantee you would.

How To Plus

These products are so effective, they even came out with Baby Quasar MD Plus and Blue, also a LED red/blue light therapy device designed strong enough to be used at medical spas and by doctors.

Customer Testimonials

The Very BEST customer service ever!

"Thank you so much for your professional and insightful advice. I have made a very informed decision – the Baby Quasar PLUS is the one for me!! The Very BEST customer service ever! I have so much more confident in the Baby Quasar because of your very courteous and prompt responses. In fact, I have recommended the Quasar website to my sister and best friends, and they all express keen interest in purchasing one for themselves."
Wendy L.
"I developed adult acne and was breaking out with several cystic lesions a month around my chin. After one week of using both lights (alternate days), I only developed a few minor pimples. They never got swollen or red and treatment with the blue light healed them by the next day. I have developed 0 new pimples in the last 3 weeks, in spite of oral antibiotics to control the acne. My skin is smooth and perfectly balanced, not oily and not dry. I wear only sun screen on my face now as foundation of any kind is unnecessary. My husband has used the blue light on a couple of severe ingrown hairs on his face and has had similar results with rapid healing taking place."
Kristine M Age 42 with extremely sensitive but, combination skin, MI
"My wife has been using the Quasar on her face at home four times in the last seven days. She is starting to get comments on how young she is looking. Today she went to the dentist and the receptionist said that she thinks they transposed the numbers on her birth date, she was born in 1968, and my wife told her that’s the right date. The receptionist said really I thought you were a teenager."

Belly Relief Puree

Mommys! It isn't easy seeing your baby with belly pains.
The best treatment for a little upset stomach is a proper diet.
Yellow squash is very rich in vitamins and helps with bowel movements
and proper digestion for your baby. Here is a recipe I whipped up.
Simple. Quick. Easy. Organic.

4 small/medium yellow squash
1/2 cup of pasta

cut the squash into small pieces

boil both separately
cook the squash with 1/2 a cup of water
add a little salt if you want
for a very upset belly add carrots :)
when the squash starts to look mushy and a different color in the middle its ready

drain the pasta
add the pasta into blender
add the squash and the left over water into blender
PUREE!

add more filtered water if you would like the puree to be less heavy

this recipe will keep your baby full and feel somewhat better.
I made about 3 servings for my 10 month old with this recipe.

this is not a treatment for any illnesses just a remedy for an upset stomach.

A DIY Prissy Christmas

Happy Holidays!
Yes, there is something about this time of year that makes you want to decorate like a mad woman... at least I do. Well, this year I've decided to save by creating all of my decorations. It's fun and gives every little detail a special meaning. Plus, you can use this time to bond with family.
Of course my 10 month old daughter only wants to taste every ribbon but it still counts!!

This is our tree. The tree was bought at Walmart. Our ornaments are from walmart and dollar tree. At the tips of the trees I added craft pearls.

This is our countdown tree. I cut a tree out of a thick poster board, glued a fleece red fabric, and cut 25 small green squares from felt, wrote the numbers with puffy paint, added a bell with a fabric flower to the top, and attach a candy cane with ribbon. Glue the green squares only on the left, right, and bottom, leaving the top open like a pocket to hook the candy cane according to the day.

This is a reindeer painting with my daughter's foot. It is not done yet. I will be adding my step daughter's feet to it. All I did was use gold paint for the foot and accented the deer using puffy paint.

I bought the glass from dollar tree along with the candy and bells.
The two buckets are from Michaels. This is to accent our kitchen bar.

This is our guest bathroom decor. I used an old flower vase, filled it with ornaments from the dollar tree and a bag of green and cream potpourri that was only $2 at Walmart. I took a soap dispenser, peeled the plastic off, added ribbon, a bow with a bell, some red accents from a poinsettia flower from the dollar tree, and craft straws to make it look like a mistletoe.

 These are our stockings.
It is a tradition for us to buy plain stockings,
usually from the dollar tree, and
decorate with all left over crafts.

By the TV consul, I bought these 3 glasses from the dollar tree and added ornaments also from the dollar tree. Our home is black and white with silver, and so is our tree, so I thought red and silver ornaments would really pop.

This is our table centerpiece. The plate is from walmart cost $7. If you have a plate you can just spray paint to the color of your liking. Ornaments are from dollar tree. The clear ornaments are only $0.88 at walmart. I filled it with vintage black and white ribbon. You can add ribbon, sand, paint, glitter, whatever!

I added these accents to our kitchen bar overhand and the living room window close to our tree. I simply glued the snowflakes (dollar tree) and ornaments (dollar tree) to fishing line then taped it to the wall. You can add lights to the top as well. It looks so nice at night when the tree is lit.

In the girls' room I did the same with ornaments and stockings from the dollar tree.

On top of the baby changer I added this ornament ensemble. I used different length ribbon and attached to the ornaments. I used red tool to cover where I taped the strings. My baby girl loves it! Adding lights would also look very nice and instead of using ribbon you can use fishing line if you would like it to look transparent.
In our main bathroom I did the same to the soap but added pearls and black and white ribbon and bows. The little tree in the back I bought the foam from the Dollar Tree along with silver flowers that I glued the petals to and wrapped with bells. Candles are always a nice accent this holiday season.

The girls have a bunk bed so to accent their wall I made felt christmas trees with buttons as ornaments and bows are the tree topper. I glued to a ribbon and hung it in a place where my baby girl wouldn't reach and destroy, in other words, EAT.

This is one of my favorite DIY's this year. I took a wire hanger and shaped it into a circle. Since my house is black and white i painted the clips accordingly. I wrapped the wire with craft straws then adding the clips. Its so perfect for when we start to receive christmas cards.
I added a dark green fabric bow to cover the hanger hook part.

This is a tree cut from the same poster board I used to make the countdown tree. I wrapped it with the green fabric I also used in the clip wreath. Made fabric flowers and added the red accents from the poinsettias from the Dollar tree I had also used in the soap decor.

and with the rest of the poster board I made these vintage trees. The wrapped with ribbon or fabric. added a bow and pearls. I love that they are all different and look imperfect. I seriously might not want to take it down LOL

Hope you enjoyed this DIY Holiday segment. All materials were mostly under $1 from either walmart, Dollar Tree, or Michael's. This is super fun to do with the family. Have fun!
